Stats Perform retains Super League data provider contract
Chicago/London – June 4, 2021 – Sports data and technology company Stats Perform has extended its agreement with the Super League and Rugby Football League to collect and manage data from matches.
The ‘multi-year’ deal with the rugby league governing bodies allows Stats Perform to continue as the ‘Official Team Performance and Team Data Provider’ of the Super League.
Data collected by the Stats Perform-owned Opta will be used for the league’s digital platforms and reports, broadcasters, sponsors and related fantasy games.
Stats Perform, which has worked with the Super League and RFL for over a decade, will deliver the data through various Opta feeds. In addition, Stats Perform will provide the league and its 12 member clubs with performance statistics and preview and review reports. The England international teams will have access to the analysis and player tracking data.
Rhodri Jones, chief commercial officer at the Super League, said: “The work done by Stats Perform not only enables our teams competing in Betfred Super League to have a greater depth of preparation for matches, but it also enables us to produce rich, data led content via our digital channels, to showcase the high quality of talent on display across the league.”
The rugby league agreement forms part of Stats Perform’s data rights portfolio that also includes football’s English Premier League and Scottish Premiership (through Football DataCo), Conmebol, Major League Soccer and United Soccer League, Cricket South Africa, New Zealand Cricket and tennis’ WTA.
Earlier this year, the Super League renewed its domestic broadcast rights agreement with Sky, the UK pay-television broadcaster, for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
