Tonight features a full slate of games with all 30 teams in action. Using STATS’ daily projections alongside the salaries of each player on the respective contest site, this article will pinpoint the top projected players of each position on both DraftKings and FanDuel.
Pitcher
Chris Archer ($8,000 DraftKings / $7,100 FanDuel), Jose Quintana ($7,900 DraftKings / $7,700 FanDuel)
Archer has been inconsistent in 2019 but a home matchup versus a Rockies’ offense that is somewhere between mediocre (16th in away runs scored) and terrible (28th in OPS on the road) makes for a strong play at his salary. The Rockies are also a strikeout-prone offense as they rank second in the league in away game strikeouts. Archer’s 7.02 projected strikeouts are fifth in the slate. Quintana has been at his best in the confines of Wrigley where he holds a 2.36 ERA. He faces a Philadelphia offense that has struggled on the road as they rank 26th in runs scored.
Catcher
Gary Sanchez($5,200 DraftKings / $4,200 FanDuel)
Sanchez’ power has been a sight to behold as he sits at a .646 slugging percentage on the year. He faces struggling righty David Hess that is allowing a .649 slugging percentage to RHB. Even at his bloated salary, Sanchez is a strong play.
First Base
Brandon Belt ($4,100 DraftKings / $3,000 FanDuel)
Belt looks to be a strong value play at his middling salary as he has crushed righties all year to the tune of a .567 slugging percentage while also posting a respectable .267 batting average. Belt’s .23 projected home runs are good for sixth in the slate.
Second Base
Logan Forsythe ($4,800 DraftKings / $3,200 FanDuel)
Forsythe is having an excellent year as he’s slashing .318/.420/.518 through 33 games. While his salary is on the higher end, the opportunity for plate appearances against spot starter Tommy Milone, who has not yet pitched this season and was dreadful in five appearances last year, make Forsythe worth splurging for.
Third Base
Alex Bregman ($5,400 DraftKings / $4,300 FanDuel)
Bregman is expensive but looks to be worth it as he gets to face Dylan Covey and a righty-heavy White Sox bullpen this evening. He has been brilliant versus RHP as he’s slashing a mean .293/.423/.610. He is our highest projected play at the position and his .22 projected HR are good for third.
Shortstop
Asdrubal Cabrera ($3,800 DraftKings / $2,900 FanDuel)
Cabrera makes for a nice play this evening as he sits at a middling salary while also sharing the opportunity of his teammate Logan Forsythe in facing spot starter Tommy Milone. Through 86 at-bats in 2018, RHBs slashed a ridiculous .372/.375/.651 versus Milone. Cabrera’s .14 projected home runs are good for 6th at the position for the slate.
Outfield
Kyle Schwarber ($3,600 DraftKings / $2,700 FanDuel), Joey Gallo ($5,5000 DraftKings / $4,200 FanDuel), Michael Brantley ($5,000 DraftKings / $3,900 FanDuel)
Schwarber has been underwhelming this season but makes for a viable play in this slate with a chance to leverage his power versus Philadelphia Zac Eflin whom LHB are slashing .276/.326/.483 against. At such a low salary and the sixth highest projected HR for the position, Schwarber is a strong value play. Gallo, like his Rangers’ teammates, gets the luxury of facing Milone as well. Furthermore, Gallo has been an absolute terror at home where he’s slashed .351/.467/.757. He’s an expensive play but offers strong value with his .34 projected home runs sitting firmly atop the slate across all positions. Brantley has been a terrific offseason addition for the Astros as he’s slashing .328/.377/.563 through 47 games. Brantley has been especially brilliant versus RHP against whom he’s slashing .346/.393/.617 and he faces a struggling righty this evening Dylan Covey. Brantley is worth every penny of his lofty salary this evening.
