LONDON/THESSALONIKI – 9 August 2024 – PAOK FC are the latest in a rapidly growing line of football clubs to turn to Stats Perform’s Opta Vision data to help secure a competitive advantage over its domestic and continental rivals.

The 2023-24 Super League Greece champions have agreed a three-year deal with Stats Perform, the sports tech leader in predictive data and AI, to become the first club in Greece to utilise the pioneering dataset, which is delivering new and critical insights to enhance recruitment profiling and performance analysis processes around world football.

This game-changing Opta Vision AI means that analysts can see the full picture of a game and prepare specific tactics for teams across dozens of leagues and competitions worldwide, by being able to synchronise event and remote tracking together seamlessly.

PAOK FC’s recruitment analysts will also be able to use Opta Vision fitness data to enhance their profiling of key prospects being scouted. Opta Vision will allow them to compare the high-intensity performance of players in key European markets and further afield, to ensure shortlisted players are a strong stylistic fit from a physical perspective.

A third key benefit makes it easy for PAOK FC analysts and recruitment staff to turn the data into meaningful insights. PAOK FC’s high-performance analysis and recruitment staff will be able to interrogate Opta Vision data using Stats Perform’s ProVision platform, where they will be able to build their own customised metrics and data reports powered by their own bespoke KPIs. ProVision will also enable them to present performance insights and trends directly to players, coaching staff and other key stakeholders, using a range of engaging data visualisations.

Christos Karypidis, Director of the Football Department at PAOK FC, said: “Having considered all the various options available to us, we have concluded that the combination of Opta Vision data and ProVision can provide our analysts with the most complete solution to evolve our scouting and performance analysis operations. It will allow us to incorporate fitness data into our recruitment profiling, identify changes to a team’s in-game shape to optimise opposition analysis and better understand a player’s on-ball tendencies. The insights will be more useable by coaches and players and not just live on an analyst’s hard drive. Opta Vision gives us a much more detailed understanding of player strengths and weaknesses as a season progresses.”

Stats Perform’s Chief Revenue Officer, Steve Xeller, added: “Opta Vision is making waves in professional football globally and we are delighted that PAOK FC have become the first Super League Greece club to recognize its considerable benefits. We are already working closely with their technical team to help ensure this unique, AI-enriched, performance data helps them achieve their key performance objectives across domestic and European competitions.”

Since its launch last year, Opta Vision is now in use at dozens of leading teams around the world, including top-flight clubs based in England, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Brazil and the United States.
